9th Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival 2012 – Harmonize the World

After the success of the 2010 Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival in Singapore, the 9th edition of the “Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival 2012” is all set to take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This prestigious biennial event attracts participants from all over the world, including countries across the Pacific Rim such as Malaysia, Japan, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Philippines, India, Polynesia, Thailand, Hawaii, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, the United States (California), and more.

The organizing committee has curated an exciting lineup of activities at the 5-star Berjaya Times Square Hotel in the golden triangle of Kuala Lumpur city. Some of the main attractions include:

The World Harmonica Competition will be the centerpiece of the festival, featuring seven categories open to all ages, including children, juniors, and adults. The previous edition in Singapore (2010) saw an impressive 2,530 participants, including ensembles!

The event is orchestrated by the dynamic Chong Ah Kow, President of the Festival, and assisted by Ching Chong Chee. Notably, Chong Ah Kow is a distinguished harmonica player who made history as the first Asian to win a gold medal at Trossingen in 1989 in the tremolo diatonic category.
